France – Germany/Spain – Monday 15/10/2018 – energiesdelamer.eu. Objective of agreement is to provide a framework for the next steps in the development of the Siemens Gamesa industrial complex in the Port of Le Havre, France, to manufacture offshore wind turbines.
Agreement also comprises the necessary works to prepare the port area to set up factories.
Industrial complex aimed at supplying French as well as regional European projects
Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) and the Grand Port Maritime du Havre (HAROPA) have signed an agreement to set up the next steps in the development of Siemens Gamesa’s offshore industrial project in the Port of Le Havre, France.The project will plan the development of an industrial complex for the manufacturing of offshore wind turbines in the Port of Le Havre. The complex will supply the Dieppe-Le Tréport, Saint Brieuc, and Yeu-Noirmoutier offshore wind power plants, along with future offshore wind projects in France and Europe.
The agreement also comprises the necessary port infrastructure and investments to prepare the port area to set up this industry. Filippo Cimitan, Managing Director of Siemens Gamesa in France states: “This agreement marks an effective resumption of the development of our industrial project. The aim is to create a truly European industrial platform from Le Havre that is competitive, innovative, and flexible. We are confident that this agreement prefigures a mobilization of all stakeholders to secure the necessary port infrastructure. These investments are part of a framework of sustainable industrial opportunities for offshore wind energy to be confirmed in the next Multiannual Energy Programme”
